Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is at the core of everything we do at CVS Caremark. That’s why we’re proud to serve as key sponsor for a number of events that help make a difference in the lives of others.

CVS Caremark Charity Classic Golf Tournament

Making A Difference

The CVS Caremark Charity Classic is held at the Rhode Island Country Club in picturesque Barrington. The Classic benefits local charities and is a great way to see world-class golf in a small-town setting. In the tournament’s nine-year history, it has raised more than $10 million for nonprofits throughout New England.

Hosted by PGA pros and R.I. natives Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade, the event has gained recognition as one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the area. According to co-host Brad Faxon, the pairing of world-class sports and worthwhile charities results in magic on the green. “We have great fans who can get close to the action, the players get to do what they love and it’s all for a terrific cause. Everyone benefits.”

Some of the organizations that benefit from the tournament each year include a unique group of nonprofits that also provide countless numbers of volunteers to help ensure the tournament’s success. CVS Caremark Downtown 5K

World-class Competition, World-class Fun

Each September, thousands of elite athletes converge in Providence, R.I. for the CVS Caremark Downtown 5K. This world-class sporting event serves as the USA Men’s & Women's 5K Championship for both individuals and teams. But that’s not all. The Downtown 5K is a great place for families, students and coworkers to get together and have some fun.

Through this great race—the largest in R.I., the spirit of volunteerism comes alive, health and fitness are embraced, and nonprofit organizations get an extra financial boost to help them fulfill their important missions.

The event offers a number of activities targeted to a variety of age groups and abilities, including:

  • Youth Races – In addition to separate races for each age group, the CVS Caremark All Kids Can Inspiriational Event gives children of all abilities the opportunity to participate in the race.
  • High School Inspirational 3K Run
  • Corporate Team Event
  • Firefighters vs. Police Officers Challenge
  • College Challenge
