Volunteer Challenge Grants

At CVS Caremark, we support the volunteer efforts of our colleagues through a unique program funded by the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust. Colleagues or groups of colleagues who volunteer a minimum number of hours at a particular nonprofit can apply for a grant to benefit that organization.

Who is eligible to apply?

Permanent full-time or part-time colleagues of CVS Caremark who have been with the company six months prior to the application deadline may apply. Individual grants are $500 and team grants, (which include three or more CVS Caremark colleagues), are up to $2,500.

CVS Caremark All Kids Can Bonus Grants of $250 are awarded, in addition to the Individual or Team Volunteer Grants, to nonprofit organizations that support theAll Kids Can mission of making life easier for children with disabilities.

To apply for an Individual Grant a colleague must volunteer a minimum of 25 hours at one nonprofit from January to December.

To apply for a Team Grant, a minimum of three CVS Caremark colleagues must volunteer at least 50 hours collectively at one nonprofit from January to December.

If an application is selected for a CVS Caremark Volunteer Challenge Grant, the money will be sent directly to the nonprofit at which the CVS Caremark colleague volunteers.

Who is eligible to receive a grant?

Schools and groups that can qualify as CVS Caremark Volunteer Challenge Grant recipients include nonprofit organizations recognized by the IRS as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3). Examples may include early childhood education, adult literacy programs, community health agencies, and youth-serving organizations.

How will grant decisions be made?

An impartial committee of CVS Caremark colleagues will review all CVS Caremark Volunteer Challenge Grant Applications, and will choose those that seem most likely to achieve the objectives of: improving community health; improving schools and strengthening the skills of the future workforce; and/or building community. Amounts requested by grant winners may be modified based on the review committee’s recommendations.
